- Well, I upgraded to Wordworth 5 from 3.1. I have to say, it is very
- disappointing. A few of my gripes:
-
- The manual
- A much thinner manual than before but with nice, if a little
- "in-your-face" design. The ordering and train of thought of some
- sections is a little odd. I can't believe they can have one page (half
- of which is diagrams) on automatic index creation and a three and a half
- page tutuorial on bulleted lists.
-
- Style sheets
- Quite nice. The ability to have substyles (bold, italic etc.) of a style
- is something that FW4 misses (FW5 has it, I think). I think "Drag and
- drop" style sheets will be the non-feature of 96. Pointless. The method
- of altering the "Modify" field in the Style Sheet requester is odd -
- that surely shouldn't be a list gadget...
-
- Font support
- TrueType, Intellifont and Type 1 are much appreciated. Excellent
- on-screen quality. Very poor PostScript integration and support
- unfortunately. The use of bullet compatible .otag files is nice, but
- there is NO point if the installer program doesn't enter the minimum
- fields for them to work with diskfont.library. I think we would all like
- TrueTypes on Workbench.
-
- Stability
- Crashes if I have run WW3.1 before it. Otherwise, stable.
-
- Preference
- FW still fits in better with my way of working. Looking forward to FW5.
-
- The reviews
- The Future magazines have loved Wordworth 5 and SE. They have mentioned
- none of its flaws. Larry Hickmott wrote and designed the WW5 manual.
- Larry Hickmott writes for Amiga Shopper and Format. Coincidence I'm
- sure.
